Master Instrument Instruction With Our Advanced CFII Course
Elevate your career with IFR mastery.
Certified flight instructor instrument (CFII)
The Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII) certificate authorizes a flight instructor to teach instrument flight and endorse pilots for the Instrument Rating. CFII instructors play a critical role in aviation safety, training pilots to operate confidently and precisely in instrument meteorological conditions. At Volair, our CFII program is designed for experienced instructors who are ready to elevate their instructional skills to the highest level.
Built around a structured and proven syllabus, the program focuses on teaching advanced IFR procedures, scenario-based instruction, and real-world decision-making. Candidates refine both their technical instrument knowledge and their ability to clearly explain, demonstrate, and evaluate instrument flying skills—preparing them to teach confidently in high-workload, high-risk environments.
CFII Training Syllabus
Stage 1: Instrument Instruction Foundations
Stage 1 focuses on developing the instructional framework required to teach instrument flight effectively. CFII candidates refine their ability to explain IFR concepts, procedures, and regulations while emphasizing risk management and aeronautical decision-making. Training reinforces how to teach instrument fundamentals clearly, efficiently, and to ACS standards.
Stage 2: Advanced IFR Teaching & Procedures
Stage 2 emphasizes teaching complex instrument procedures, including holds, approaches, abnormal situations, and partial-panel operations. Candidates practice delivering structured instrument lessons, coaching students through high-workload scenarios, and managing risk in dynamic IFR environments. The focus is on consistency, accuracy, and instructional confidence while operating in real-world instrument conditions.
Stage 3: Practical Test Preparation
Stage 3 is dedicated to polishing instructional technique and preparing for the FAA practical test. Candidates complete mock orals, focused flight reviews, and scenario-based evaluations that mirror checkride expectations. This stage ensures CFII candidates are fully prepared to teach instrument flight safely, professionally, and at a high standard from day one.

Teaching instrument flight leaves no room for shortcuts. IFR operations are inherently complex and unforgiving, and instructors must be prepared to handle precision flying, system failures, weather decision-making, and student errors simultaneously. At Volair, we intentionally go far beyond the bare FAA minimums to ensure CFII candidates are truly ready for this responsibility. Our premium CFII training emphasizes depth, realism, and instructional excellence through structured lessons, scenario-based training, and rigorous standards. While lower-cost programs may focus solely on checkride preparation, Volair prioritizes long-term competence, safety, and professionalism. Choosing Volair means investing in elite instructor training that prepares you not just to pass the CFII checkride—but to confidently teach instrument flying at the highest level.
